NCIP-BAVI Rolls Out 12 Units of Spindle Stripping Machine to Agta Tabangnon Communities in Albay, Camarines Sur and Sorsogon

The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples, in collaboration with Bounty Agro-Ventures Incorporated (BAVI), has initiated the distribution of 12 Mobile Spindle Stripping Machines (MSSM) to IP groups in the municipalities of Tiwi, Polangui, Buhi, Goa, and Bulusan, located in the provinces of Albay, Camarines Sur, and Sorsogon. In San Pedro, Iriga City, a collaborative effort between PhilFIDA Regional Office V and the Local Government Unit of Iriga City was undertaken to provide the community with an alternative livelihood. Through a concise yet comprehensive 4-day training program focused on handloom weaving and fiber dyeing, eighteen (18) enthusiastic participants, primarily engaged in abaca farming, immersed themselves in the intricacies of these traditional crafts under the guidance of experts.
